Melbourne is Design

Walking into the lobby of Ilk Apartments in South Yarra for the very first time, the experience is more akin to stepping foot inside a luxury seven star hotel.
Exquisite landscaping, designer furniture, textured surfaces, marble finishes – and that’s just as soon as you walk through the door.
Developed by Little Projects and designed by Cox Architecture, at street level Ilk is characterised by a low-rising six storey façade peppered with box-shaped balconies and a retail precinct.
Set back from the streetscape a taller 24 storey structure houses the bulk of Ilk’s 388 apartments, many of which look over an exquisitely designed communal entertaining area on level nine.
The hotel feel continues inside the communal facilities where you are greeted by a penthouse-sized kitchen looking like it’s stepped straight off the set of a luxury magazine with its restaurant-size marble benchtop, sparkling glassware and sweeping views over the city surrounds.
The kitchen along with a dining and communal lounge area are available for bookings, an added bonus for residents of this luxury building.
If fine dining’s not your thing, step outside to the external teppanyaki bar leading to a series of terrace gardens where beer and food lovers alike can experience the quality of the surroundings.
Ilk is like a pretty little parcel waiting to be unwrapped, with layer upon layer pared back to reveal a refined, sophisticated surprise.
And with so many of Melbourne’s new hot-spots such as Adriano Zumbo’s patisserie, Touche Hombre and the latest café offering from the stalwarts behind Three Bags Full, all opening their doors within a short walk from home, this is the gift that keeps on giving.
