191-Apartment DA Set To Make Richmond A Little Richer

One of Melbourne’s most in demand suburbs is set to acquire a new 191-apartment complex after Little Projects lodged a development application.

The developer is looking to breathe new life into Richmond with the high profile site located at 153-177 Bridge Road, bordered by Bridge Road and Judd Street.

The 2,700 square metre site comprises the current Thomas Dux supermarket and the adjoining building to the east.

Little Projects Managing Director Michael Fox said the site is a prime position at the top of Richmond Hill, and a stone’s throw from Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks including the Fitzroy Gardens and MCG.

“Bridge Road has long been considered one of Melbourne’s best-known retail shopping strips and we believe that the addition of a considered residential offering will regenerate the area, bringing new life for local traders upon completion,” he said.

Little Projects engaged renowned architecture practice ROTHELOWMAN who proposed the scheme to deliver 191 contemporary design apartments, featuring 190 car parking spaces and offer commanding views of the city and neighbouring prime suburbs.

The project presents the third collaboration between ROTHELOWMAN and Little Projects who will work closely to ensure that part of the existing heritage facade is retained.

Their first collaboration was the recently completed multi-residential project located in Brunswick East on the former Tip Top bakery site, which was awarded the 2014 Australian Property Institute’s Heritage Award this September.

Additional retail opportunities will also be created for this landmark shopping area with provision for up to eight retail spaces at the base of the development with Little Projects working with key local businesses to secure quality tenants.

Little Projects will also work with council to activate the public car park on Judd Street for local and visiting shoppers.

The site was purchased off market for around $20 million on extended terms from a private owner.
